Theodore R. Hofstedt, MD is a respected authority in adult joint reconstruction, total joint replacement, sports medicine, and arthroscopic surgery. He is committed to delivering optimum, state of the art orthopedic care in a friendly, service oriented, and efficient manner.

 

His career landmarks include; Undergraduate college at the university of Colorado, Boulder, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa earning a BA in Molecular, Cellular, and developmental Biology.  He went on to Medical School at the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency.  He then completed his Sports Medicine fellowship in South Lake Tahoe, serving as the assistant physician to the US Women’s Professional Ski Tour.

 

Dr. Hofstedt started his Orthopedic practice with North Phoenix Orthopedic Surgeons in 1995.  He currently is President of North Phoenix Orthopedic Surgeons (NPOS), He is Medical Director for Arizona Rehabilitation Associates, LTD.  He recently served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Desert Ridge Ambulatory Surgery Center for three years.  He brings to NPOS a culture of excellence where the patient comes first.

Dr. Hofstedt was featured on “Good Morning Arizona” to discuss new options in joint resurfacing procedures.  Watch the video here.  He has an interest in education and routinely lectures at local academic and sporting venues.  He is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. His continuing education consists of certifications from; Tournier Masters Shoulder Arthroplasty Course, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meetings, Current Concepts in Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation and many more.

 

North Phoenix Orthopedic Surgeons is proud to have Marianne Contreras, PA-C as a member of our clinical team. Mari is a certified physician assistant who is dedicated to the highest standard of patient care. Her current research in Platelet Rich Plasma therapy is on the cutting edge of technology. Her dedicated skill set and outstanding academic record have set her apart.

 

Mari graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors degree in Microbiology/Chemistry as well as previously earning her Bachelors degree in Biological Science and Marketing. She received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant studies from Midwestern University. Mari’s diverse medical and business experience includes work in corporate regional management, microbiology, orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and family medicine.

 

Mari is active in community service, serving as the volunteer team physician staff for Boulder Creek High School, High Desert Football, and several youth sport teams. Training in orthopedics makes her a valuable addition to the distinguished NPOS faculty. She strives for excellence and exemplary patient care. 

 

She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Mari has been a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) 2007 and a member of the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA) since 2007.

William Paterson, MD

North Phoenix Orthopaedic Surgeons is excited to welcome William Paterson, MD to our practice. Dr. Paterson has a strong foundation of training in all aspects of orthopaedic care, including surgical and nonsurgical treatment of joint pain, arthritis, sports injuries and fractures. Additionally, he has completed an extra year of extensive training in the treatment of shoulder problems.

 

Dr. Paterson graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1999 with a BS degree in Biology. During this time, he was a member of their NCAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving team, specializing in sprint events. He attended medical school at the Chicago Medical School, part of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where he excelled and graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Residency brought him to Memphis, Tennessee, where he completed his training in orthopaedic surgery at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic. There, he was taught by the same physicians who author the definitive textbook on orthopaedic surgery – Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics. He completed an additional year of training in disorders of the shoulder under two of the world’s leading experts on shoulder problems, Dr. Sumant “Butch” Krishnan and Dr. Wayne “Buz” Burkhead, Jr., at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Paterson has published research in highly respected scientific journals, such as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and has co-authored several book chapters in leading orthopaedic textbooks. His primary focus has always been on taking care of each patient as an individual; finding the most appropriate surgical or nonsurgical treatment.

 

Dr. Paterson and his wife Pearl are thrilled to be coming to Phoenix, where they will be settling near family. Bill and Pearl enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking and photography, as well as travel.
