The Physicians at North Phoenix Orthopedic Surgeons have been taking care of orthopedic needs in the community for 30 years. Each physician is a highly trained Orthopedic Surgeon who has had many years of experience in treating injuries and diseases afflicting the bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments of the body. The physicians, clinical staff, and administrative staff will all take the time to listen to your needs and develop a treatment program tailored to your best interests. We specialize in treating injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as arthritis, that affect the shoulder, knee, and hip joints as well as other parts of the body. If surgery is necessary, you can be assured our physicians are experienced and highly trained in the most advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques as well as procedures in total joint reconstruction and joint replacement.
For your convenience, each physician at NPOS has an individual medical assistant to coordinate your care and assist with any questions regarding your upcoming procedures. The staff at NPOS is dedicated to deliver excellent care to each and every patient with courtesy and compassion.

Dr. Theodore R. Hofstedt, M.D. completed his
undergraduate education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He received his medical degree at the
Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in 1989 and completed
his orthopedic surgery residency at MCV in 1994. After completing his orthopedic residency, Dr. Hofstedt finished a sports medicine fellowship at Lake Tahoe. Dr. Hofstedt became certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons in 1997. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques for shoulder repairs as well as total shoulder reconstruction. |

Dr. Michael S. Weng, M.D. |

Dr. Michael S. Weng, M.D. earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland in 1986. He then completed his internship at The University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Weng went on to complete a research fellowship at the Harrington Arthritis Research Center in Phoenix. After completing his orthopedic residency with the Phoenix Orthopedic Residency Program, Dr. Weng finished a year long sports medicine fellowship at The John Hopkins University. Dr. Weng is board certified and specializes in knee, shoulder surgery and sports medicine. |

Dr. Stephen M. Kurtin, M.D. |

Dr. Stephen M. Kurtin, M.D. completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona in 1992, and earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1997. After completing his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Kurtin then went on to complete a Fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery at The University of Utah. Dr. Kurtin is a board certified physician and has the latest knowledge and training in total joint replacement surgery, including the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques. |

Dr. Eli J. Krigsten, M.D. is a native of Iowa and received his medical degree from The University of Iowa. He did his orthopedic surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a practicing orthopedic surgeon in Phoenix for over 30 years, and is well respected among his peers. Dr. Krigsten specializes in joint replacement surgery and sports medicine. |

Kevin Cantwell, PA-C is our Certified Physician Assistant. He completed his Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies in 2004 at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Upon certification, he has since worked in hospital and office based orthopedics and sports medicine and is the surgical assistant to all of our physicians. |
